Huang Suhuai
黄素怀
HUANG SUHUAI (b. 1984) is a multidisciplinary artist based in Singapore. Her work delves into themes of identity and memory, with a keen interest in how everyday objects influence and are influenced by the human body. This exploration is manifested in her drawings, mixed media installations, and community practice.
Suhuai is the founder of Plain Studio and Huai Form, through which she continues to expand her artistic research, fostering innovative projects and collaborations within the art community. She is currently the Artistic Director at Pien Chih-lin Art Museum, where she oversees the artistic vision and programming of the museum.
Suhuai graduated with first-class honors in Fine Arts from Lasalle College of the Arts. In 2020, she was honored with the “International Takifuji Art Award” by the Japan Traffic Culture Association.
Beyond her visual art practice, Suhuai is deeply involved in literature and theatre. She has written and translated more than ten plays staged in Singapore, including productions for young audiences. Additionally, her literary works, which include poetry, novels, and articles, have been published on various platforms.
